The Calling to Grow Your Meds: .
If you haven’t taken an herbal medicinals course yet, perhaps you should look into it, and consider the call to Grow Your Meds. I believe in caring for people, and that medical professionals should do no harm in the treatment of others. I also believe that All Mighty God was far more brilliant than anyone here on this earth, and that He knew exactly what He was doing when He created everything we humans would need on this earth to survive and flourish. I believe if you would simply learn about those plants, fungi, and molds that have survived for centuries naturally, and have been shown for many generations to heal, you would grow your meds. You would use the knowledge you had in your own head and heart to treat you and your family, knowing from your own experience what does and doesn’t work for your family’s ailments and issues, and only seek medical advice for things that you actually needed an expert for. The healthcare in our country would be forced to downsize, and because we all knew what worked and didn’t work for our families, we’d walk into a doctor’s office expecting him or her to actually be an expert with knowledge beyond our own. Instead, we rely perhaps too much on doctors for every little ache and pain, and have come to pay the price for that in prescription drug prices that are absolutely mind boggling, and an insecurity because we feel helpless at curing even the most basic of illnesses. Grow your meds and take better control of your family’s health.
Security:
When you grow your meds you know where they came from, and the knowledge you gain might just save your or a loved ones life if the supply chain is interrupted. You’ll also learn what works for you and your loved ones that you can often find growing in your own back yard, or can be foraged in a nearby public space. And your family can rely on you when they are hurt or injured because you’ve been working with God to heal their bodies their whole life.
Why grow your meds? I can not vouch for all herbal remedies. I can tell you that when I take herbal medicinal courses, I prefer to gather information about remedies from individuals who have degrees that are heavy in human anatomy and/or medicine as well as knowledge in herbal medicinals, primarily because I am a very analytical person and want to understand the mechanisms by which the medicinals work. I also personally have always had a fascination with the details of how the human body works, so I have a better than street knowledge of how the body (and medicines) work. That being said, I have also had situations where western medicine was unable to help, and a simple herbal remedy did in one day what western medicine couldn’t help with in 6+ months. So, I grow my meds now, and I hope you will grow your meds too, or that you will at least legitimately consider it!
Warnings:
You’ve probably seen it everywhere — warnings not to take herbal medicines because ‘they are not regulated.’ Pharmaceutical companies and apparently our own government don’t want you to grow your meds. When you grow your meds, they can’t control it, and they can’t charge ridiculous prices for it. But pharmaceutical companies develop their formulas by starting with the naturally occurring plants, fungi, and molds that treat a given condition, which they then pull apart, study, and attempt to pinpoint the substance within the plant, fungi, or mold that most contributes to resolving the issue. Then they play with what they can add to that component that will “enhance” the effect of that primary substance within the herb. So they formulate “medicine” by manipulating what God made in nature, believing (presumably) that their enhancements are superior to God’s naturally created substance.
Health & Confidence:
I would like to posit this: perhaps the other substances God puts in the naturally occurring formula that they are removing from the equation provide other synergistically useful effects that enhance the medicine He made in ways that we are simply either uninterested in or incapable of understanding. Just a thought. But either way, I would rather put my trust first in that which God has naturally provided to all humans on this earth, with fewer side effects, and often more effective results. People around the globe for generations upon generations have used naturally occurring medicinals to grow their meds and treat all kinds of ailments. Perhaps we as a population would be better off if we all had a basic understanding of plant identification and qualities that might help you and your families as you grow your meds and naturally treat what ails your body. Consider the testimony of Nicole Apelian, a PhD who was diagnosed with MS, and was told she’d spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair. She turned to nature, and now enjoys an active life NOT in a wheelchair, enhanced by the remedies she learned from our ancestors. And there are many more testimonies like hers out there.
So Grow Your Meds, give it a try! You might just find help for that the weird cough you’ve had that you thought was a cold that never went away. The family practice you went to ‘found something’ on your CT scan, referred you to a specialist, who cost you a fortune running test, never to get to the end of it until at month 6 they repeated the CT to declare you were ‘healthy’. Then that same cough comes back the following year at the exact same time of the year. At month 4 of the 2nd year of this deep cough, you learn that bay leaves and mullein leaf can be burned, the smoke inhaled, and they actually (counterintuitive to what we’ve been taught forever) HEAL the lungs and the respiratory tract… So you try it because you are tired, and literally the FIRST time you inhale the smoke, the cough you have had for what feels like forever STOPS. You figured it’d probably come back, but it didn’t. You become a believer, and are more willing to try to grow your meds, because these meds — at least some of them — WORK, and you can grow them year after year! And you do.
You grow your meds, and you tell your friends, because it was way easier, way cheaper, and way more effective than the countless visits and prescription meds that Family Medicine put you through. You grow your meds because health insurance premiums went up 90% last year, and this year you had to choose which family member to cover with insurance because what you paid to cover your entire family last year now only covers one member of the household. You grow your meds because you care about your family, and so that you know you have medicine in the cabinet that can treat the typical illnesses and injuries your family sees in a year. You grow your meds so you don’t end up in a situation where you cannot afford the help your child when they need it. You grow your meds, and you become more knowledgeable about what plants can be used to keep you and your family healthy. You grow your meds and become empowered with knowledge and less reliant on the medical community. You grow your food and your meds, and find along the way that you are all becoming far more healthy.
Grow your meds, plow the earth, plant your seeds, and watch them grow. Leave them there to come back year after year, and cut them when needed to make sure you pantry is stocked with meds when you or your family needs them most. Grow your knowledge, learn about herbs and mushrooms, and grow your meds. You might just be happy that you did. You can still use your pharmaceuticals when you need to. But you won’t be as terrified at the thought of supply chains disrupting access to the medicines you take. And you might just find that herbal remedies might do a better job treating your condition without all the harmful side effects.
